MIG awarded $580,000 in funding MIG has recently been awarded $580,000 for the "Shrubs for Emissions Reduction and Carbon Storage" project through the Australian Government's Action on the Ground Program.
The project will work with 8 farmers across WA, NSW, VIC and SA to trial and demonstrate the benefits of forage shrubs to reduce methane emissions in livestock.
Project partners include the Future Farm CRC, CSIRO and UWA.
2012 Trials Program Underway MIG's main trial site for 2012 is at Darrin Lee's property on the Mingenew-Morowa Road. Plans have been finalised for the main trial site, with pegging occurring on Wednesday, 9 May 2012, and trial seeding commencing shortly afterwards.
The sandplain trial site for 2012 is at Peter Horwood's Pine Springs property on the Allanooka Springs Road.
The first trial in MIG's 2012 Trials Program, a Canola Variety Trial, was sown at the sandplain trial site on Friday, 4 May 2012 by DAFWA's RSU team.
